Mitre 10 Mega Nelson Helping Hands
Keen to give a helping hand? Why not grab some inspiration from Julian Crocker who teamed up with the great folks at Mitre 10 Mega Nelson.
We love to partner with other businesses who also contribute to making their local communities better off. And there's many different ways to make a difference!
Known as the Helping Hands community project, the Mitre 10 Mega in Nelson regularly send their team members out into the Nelson community to help with building projects for local groups. Projects can range from better accessibility or safety for the disabled, environmental projects, right to various school programs. The locals really appreciate this effort - which in some cases couldn't be achieved without the extra help.
Julian - our Nelson Mini-Tankers owner-operator - acknowledged that this was a great initiative and teamed up with Mitre 10 Mega on one of their projects. He donated $1,000 towards building materials and plants for the gardens at Rutherford Street Kindergarten - allowing the children to grow their own vegetables.
As well as the cash donation, Julian also donated his time by volunteering on the day, helping to plant the plants and build planter boxes.
Although cash donations are always appreciated, volunteering is another great way to make a hands-on difference in your local community.
"It was a great accomplishment at the days end, seeing everybody so pleased with what we had achieved for them as they wouldn't have been able to do it without the support from us. It was a great experience helping others in the community," Julian recalls of his volunteer day.
As with Julian's experience, outcomes are better achieved through a number of local tradespeople and businesses banding together to support those in need in their local communities.
"If we can contribute to a network of like-minded businesses and groups, and partner up on projects, that would be fantastic." - Murray Leaning, Marketing Coordinator of Mitre 10 Mega Nelson .
